There are of late-many innovative changes in the school education system in India bringing about radical changes in the pedagogy and approaches to primary and the secondary education. We have adopted these practices in our schools at Baru Sahib and these provide unique, first hand and in-depth learning environment not only for the students but also the budding teachers-particularly during their school internship.

Our B.ED. programme is very well supported by experienced and competent faculty and well equipped library and various laboratories.

VISION & MISSION

The objectives of the college are to disseminate, create and advance knowledge, wisdom and understanding, and to offer education of the highest standards by teaching, research, training and extension programs. Towards this end the college shall :

  • Provide instruction, teaching and training in higher education with a view to create higher level of intellectual abilities in any field of human endeavor.
  • Establish facilities for education and training.
  • Carry out teaching and practical and to offer continuing education programs.
  • Develop center of excellence for research and development relevant to the needs of the society and the country for sharing knowledge and its applications.
  • Promote in the students and teachers, awareness and understanding of the social needs of the country and prepare them pro-actively for fulfilling such needs.
  • Take appropriate measures for promoting inter-disciplinary studies and research activities in the College.
  • Provide visionary and forward looking, 21st century leadership in all walks of life.
  • Fulfill the mission of Sant Attar Singh Ji and Sant Teja Singh Ji towards achieving permanent peace in the world by amalgamating modern scientific knowledge with Braham Vidya and Spiritualism.
  • Give effect to the spirit of national and international goodwill, friendship and partnership, as well as the desire of the people from other areas of the country and the world to share with each other (their best) for the overall benefits of society at large and sustainability of human life on planet earth.

General Objectives of B. Ed Program

  • To encourage the pupil teachers to be a global citizen, serving the human beings at large through the nobler profession of teaching
  • To persuade the pupil teachers to act as agents of modernization, social change, promote social cohesion, international understanding, and work for protection of human rights and rights of the child.
  • To enable the pupil teachers to understand the central concepts, tools of inquiry and structures of the disciplines of Education in general, and teacher education in particular.
  • To make the student teachers understand how children learn and develop, how they differ in their approaches to learning, and create learning opportunities that benefit diverse learners and learning contexts.
  • To imbibe knowledge, develop an understanding of the various methods and approaches of organizing learning experiences for secondary school students.
  • To develop the skills of student teachers to plan learning experiences in and outside the classroom that are based on learners’ existing proficiency, interests, experiences and knowledge, and enable them to understand how students come to view, develop, learn and make sense of subject matter contained in the curriculum.
  • To enable them to foster creative thinking among pupils for the reconstruction of knowledge.
  • To provide student teachers self-identity as a ‘teacher’ through school based learning experiences and reflective practices that continually evaluate the effects of their choices and actions.
  • To develop communication skills for education through Information and Communication Technology.
  • To acquire knowledge and develop an understanding of the various procedures and techniques of evaluation and their classroom applications.
  • To enable them to undertake Action Research and use innovative practices.
  • To foster in student teachers a desire for life-long learning.

The quality of teachers is a crucial factor in promoting effective learning among the students. For that we need specially qualified teachers who are academically sound, morally strong, and socially committed. For they only can bring a positive change and stabilize our crippling education system. For years now we have been talking of the comprehensive education and defining it as a complete education that caters to the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains on a person’s personality. But what we are witnessing is a sharp growth in crime, disoriented youth, and social unrest. Why the current education system in our country is not able to touch the hearts of our students? Why do our youth lack the reasoning ability and show such irrational behaviours? Why are our teachers not able to set ideals before the students to make them more responsible and productive members of the society?
We are proud of the farsightedness of our great visionaries Sant Attar Singh ji, Principal Teja Singh ji and Baba Iqbal Singh ji. They realised that an effective education system is the only way of bringing about a positive social change
